Throughout the world, global warming is affecting the prospects of human life.

In the Peruvian Andes rural farmers, small communities and whole cities encounter increased vulnerabilities as dramatic shifts in the climate and landscape transform the way they engage with their environment.

Yuraq Janka – Cordillera Blanca is a non-fiction transmedia project that uses different platforms and various media to convey the stories of individuals, communities and organizations that are facing the impacts of climate change and who are actively involved in the creation of knowledge around glacier retreat in the Peruvian Cordillera Blanca Mountain Range.

Following people’s stories of engagement with shifting natural and social environments in the past, present and future, we aim to capture a broad snapshot of human experience in times of anthropogenic planetary transformation, pointing to the links between technological development, climate research and international politics.

Through Yuraq Janka – Cordillera Blanca we present how climate change develops at different scales and becomes even more significant through the commitment of individuals and groups to their social and natural environments, as a local and global issue.
